Low Milk Supply: Causes, Prevention and Treatments
This talk will discuss what we know about causes of low milk supply. While we will briefly cover proper breastfeeding management to optimize supply, we will mostly focus on true low supply and underlying medical issues that can cause low supply. While this talk will be geared towards birth professionals, parents are welcome to attend as well.
Tongue and Lip-Tie: Evidence, Treatments and Controversies
Tongue and lip-tie are hot topics in lactation. We will talk about the red flags for breastfeeding difficulty caused by ties, evidence currently available, and evaluation techniques being used. In addition to discussing the treatment options and benefits and risks of each, we will also discuss what outcomes can be expected and follow-up treatment needed.
Marijuana in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
This talk will summarize what evidence we do and don't have about marijuana use during pregnancy and breastfeeding as well as information that should be considered when counseling families about marijuana use. While this talk will be geared towards birth workers, parents are welcome to attend as well.
